Cozy Up To Early Fall

Hello everyone, happy Tuesday.  Welcome to our "Transitioning from Summer-To-Fall" blog hop 2019!! I am thrilled to be teaming up with 28 fellow bloggers to bring you this fun Home Decorating and Entertaining Blog Hop hosted by our talented friend, Amber Lyon Ferguson, of Follow The Yellow Brick Home.   I know you will appreciate all the beautiful and inspiring ideas that this incredible group of creatives will share to help you add simple decor touches that will transition your home into fall.  So sit back, relax, and grab a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the overdose of pretty!

Before I begin, I want to take a few minutes to acknowledge all of the people in Dorian's path.  I have lots of family and friends living in Florida and this is extremely stressful for all of them.  I pray that they all remain safe. My heart goes out to all of those that will be impacted by this monster of a storm.  Let's keep them in our prayers.

Today, I am opening the doors of our home to give you an glimpse of how I cozy up our home for easy fall living.  If you are visiting my blog for the first time, a big welcome to you.  For those of you coming over from touring Larissa's gorgeous home at Welch House 1900, thank you for stopping by today.  I am truly grateful!

I still can't believe that August is gone!!!  Where has summer gone??  It just feels like summer comes and goes so quickly every year.  But thankfully, the temperatures are still in the 80's here so we can still enjoy the outdoors for a few more months.  On the other hand, this makes fall seem a bit far off to me and it only makes sense that our home decor has a bit of a slow transition into the autumn season.

One of the first signs that the autumn season is approaching, are my white hydrangeas.  As summer turns to fall, our hydrangeas go from white to lime green and eventually tinges of pink and purple appear.  It is when they are at their best - In my opinion!!  Excellent time to turn them into dried flowers to enjoy through the entire autumn season and beyond.

A favorite thing to do in early fall, is to enjoy tea in our lush garden.  It is the ideal spot to contemplate the hydrangea bushes shift from their typical white color to purple-green as they make their transition into fall.

In our breakfast nook or sun room, I like to keep things simple and clean. The paneling and furniture in the room are a creamy white with lots of windows.  This gives the room a cottage charm.  The relaxed vibe of the room and rustic furniture make it easy to decorate.

During early fall, I like to add a few effortless details such as decorative pillows on the chairs, throws and dried flowers.  My go to style for this room is usually farmhouse/cottage style.  I think it just works in this room.

Fall also means that there will be lots of family spending the weekends at our home since we leave near lots of beautiful farms.  They love to visit during apple and pumpkin picking season.

My goal is always to make guests feel welcomed.  Creating rooms that feel warm and cozy is extremely important to me.   This is particularly of significant during the cold winter months.  Once that crisp autumn air sets in, I like to bring in those cozy throws, warm blankets and decorative pillows that we all love so much in our homes.  A few soft toned autumn accent bring a bit of the fall flair without feeling overdone

Our living is the one place where I normally add lots of the autumn colors and textures.  There is something about these colors that bring me comfort during the cold autumn nights.

Faux flowers are great for decorating.  Inexpensive and easy for adding color and texture to any room in your home.

Throws and pillows make it easy to decorate for any season and you do not have to commit to color with your furniture.

It doesn't take a large room to create a space for peace and quiet. We made the most of every each of our bedroom to design a room for relaxation and comfort.  Especially during the cold winter months.  In early fall, I simply fill the room with lots of candlelight.  It's especially pretty during the evening and provides a warmth in the room.

This concludes my "Transitioning From Summer-To-Fall Home Tour" friends.  I hope you have picked up an idea or two for decorating your home this fall season.  "Next Up is Jann at Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson".  And be sure to visit the rest of the homes on the tour for more fall inspiration.  Links are below.

  3. Janet, your home is a beautiful sanctuary. Anyone would be appreciative to be a houseguest in your surroundings. I was especially noting all your pretty artwork. Your bedroom - oh my, such a dreamy escape! Your tablescapes are always so well styled, and the summer tea looks so inviting. I agree with you 110% that these hurricanes are so stressful. Even though I don't like how the media hypes it all continually, I wouldn't have one bad thing to say if thing just took a sharp turn east back out to sea. I have family directly impacted by Dorian, evacuating.

    1. Hi Rita,

Happy Tuesday friend! Your comments always bring me great joy. Know that I appreciate every word!

I do love art and my home reflects that. I've built a decent collection over the years and they fill me with inspiration every morning.

I hope your family is safe. Our family was lucky this time. The storm didn't affect them at all but my heart breaks for the people in Bahamas. Such devastation!

      Thank you for stopping by.

  6. Janet, I want your bedroom!!!!! Oh my mercy! How beautiful. I am not sure I would ever come out of there! Love all the pictures and your tables are always so pretty. We are prepared as much as possible for the storm. Though our latest news has been wonderful as it looks as though we will get winds and rain at the most. Our hearts are breaking for the Bahama's. Asking a hedge of protection around all. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  8. Your home is so beautiful Janet! I love your outdoor bistro area too. I could definitely get lost out there for a few hours reading a book or visiting with family and friends. It all looks so warm and inviting. I know your guests feel that way too. I'll be keeping your Florida friends and family close in my prayers. It's been an emotional roller coaster these past few days as the storm continues to change. Praying we're all safe and sound soon, CoCo
