Daylight saving time has arrived and it seems that it has also brought back freezing temperatures. Did mother nature not get the memo about the spring equinox arriving on March 20??? What a disappointment!!! I thought that after the record warm weather in February, spring was here to stay. And to make things even worse, we are expecting winter storm Stella tomorrow night which is anticipated to bring blizzard conditions and a decent amount of snow fall. Yikes!!!
What are you going to do sweet friends!!! We can't control mother nature so for now, I will settle for dreaming of spring. With that in mind. today I am sharing a recipe and tutorial for these darling Marshmallow Flower Cupcakes that are sure to get you talking about spring flowers.
Bake your favorite cupcake mix or follow the simple recipe below:
Vanilla Cupcakes with Marshmallow Sugar Flowers:
Makes about 24 cupcakes
Vanilla Cupcakes
Author: Sweet & Tasty Pastry
Recipe type: Dessert
Skip the boxed mix and make delicious vanilla cupcakes from scratch! This recipe makes 24 cupcakes.
Ingredients
- 3 cups sifted cake flour
- 3.5 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1⅓ cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Place cupcake liners in one 24 count or two 12 count cupcake pans.
- Cream butter then slowly add sugar until fluffy in stand mixer with whisk attachment.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder and salt in separate bowl.
- Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.
- Fill cupcake liners ⅔ full and bake 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool completely in wire rack before frosting and decorating
You’ll need:
- Bag of mini marshmallows
- Frosting
- Colored Sugar
- Sugar Pearls
- Kitchen Shears
- Small spatula
- Paper plates or Plastic Ziploc bags

Step 1: Begin by frosting your cupcakes
Step 2: Take the mini marshmallows and cut them with kitchen shears
diagonally.
Step 3: Place them cut side down into the colored sugar
pushing gently then pull them out and put aside.
Step 4: Now take the sugared mini marshmallows and place them
around the edge of the cupcake sugar side up with the points
sticking out and working in a circle.
Step 5: Continue this working from the outside in toward the middle.
Step 6: Add the sugar pearls to the center of the flower
Aren't these cupcakes gorgeous? Who would have thought that marshmallows could look this beautiful!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial and that I have inspired to give these cupcakes a try. These pretty cupcakes would be ideal for any spring gathering, bridal shower, girls birthday or Easter.
Let me know what you think....
Wishing you a great week ahead,
Janet

Your cupcakes are so lovely I don't know whether to eat them or display them! Congrats - you're one of our featured guests at Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy this week!
ReplyDeleteJanet,
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping off from "Create With Joy" this Monday morning. Congrats on being one of this week's featured bloggers. These cupcakes are so pretty! I am going to save your idea for a future cake decorating project. I haven't made cupcakes in years and DH says he'd rather just have a cake so maybe I'll spruce up an ordinary cake with these marshmallow spring flowers. It may be a little trickier than a cupcake but I'm willing to give it a try! Thanks for sharing!
I invite you to visit Curious as a Cathy for a little mewsic and learn about my AprilA2Z challenge theme reveal!
These are darling Janet! Easier than I expected, but I'm sure a bit time consuming! Thanks for sharing them with SYC.
