Christmas Home Tour - Merry and Bright

Hello everyone.  I hope you are all having the happiest of holiday season.

Today, I am extra excited because I am opening the doors to our home to give you a small peek of the Christmas decorations around the house as part of Celebrate & Decorate Holiday Home Tour hosted by Chloe Crabtree.  And if  you are following the holiday series, welcome back.  I hope you are enjoying the tour.  I feel extremely lucky to be joining this group of talented bloggers.  Each one an artist in their own right.  The ideas and styling in this Home Holiday Tour is incredible so if you have not had the chance to visit their blogs, head down to the bottom of my post and click on the links.  It is our pleasure to share photos of our decorated homes to inspire you to create.  Most of all, we offer these ideas to help you make this time of the year unforgettable for you and those you love.

We await Christmas with joy because it is a time for combining the traditions we cherish with new expressions of the season's true meaning of Christmas.  A time to renew friendships spend time with our families and to celebrate the traditions of the season...The familiar aromas, the warm and cozy evenings sitting by a fire and the lighting of the Rockefeller Tree are all things that make my heart fuzzy and warm during the holiday season.

Christmas really begins when the boxes of ornaments come up from the basement and that usually happens right after Thanksgiving.  Many of our ornaments have a story of their own - all souvenirs of happy times past.  I don't have a specific style when it comes to Christmas decorating.  I approach decorating just like I approach my tablescapes, I like to mix and match.   In some areas of our home you will see that I have a bit of a fun playful style while in others areas, the style is more glam.  And that captures exactly who I am.  Playful at times and glam when I feel a little girlie.  So sit back and enjoy a glass of bubbly while you browse.

Welcome to our home!  As you enter our foyer this fun vignette will greet you at the door.  It easily puts a smile on my face each day.  Playful, vibrant and full of character.  And if you haven't noticed, I have been crushing over these adorable red pickup trucks lately.  They have become increasingly popular in recent years and it's easy to see why.  Just too cute to pass up.  A vintage crate holding a cute Teddy, Candy canes and truck help create this whimsical Christmas display.

This particular one I found in Target during a recent visit.

Isn't Teddy adorable?  Love his plaid scarf.

A light colored pre-lit lantern gives this area warmth.

A pre-lit garland decorated with stockings and ornaments adorn the staircase.

As you may have noticed, flocked Christmas trees are having a moment.  They are everywhere and I must say, I have become a fan.  A tree already covered with snow?  How can you not love it.  It is genius.  Plus flocking on a tree covers the lights, making them and the wires almost undetectable when it is not lit.  This pretty guy stands in one of the corners of our dining room.  An enduring symbol of the season for sure.

A whimsical red and white stripped hat tops this tree so most of the ornaments decorating this tree are white and red with a few green ones in between for added color.

Notice more little red trucks anyone?  I also added a wood R and T to the tree for Rosemary & Thyme.

Another Teddy sits beneath the Christmas tree.

I continued the red and white theme in our dining room.  Here I placed and old world Santa on top of one of the buffets in our dining room.  It stands on top of a wicker basket layered with white vintage linens.   A few white plates and red and white tea cups give this vignette a pop of color.

In our living room, the look is a bit more glam since the room has a mixture of French style furniture and rustic pieces.  It is peaceful and comfortable due to its light color palette.  It reflects the true personality of a girl with a true feminine heart who loves faded flowers, all things tarnish and worn and who isn't afraid to be different.

This room is often dimly lit with candles and chandelier.  A gilded mirror and French style furniture give this room a romantic feel. The decorations here are definitely a little more glamorous and glittery.

A girl can never be without a pair of pink shoes around the house right?

The Christmas tree in this room is decorated in golds, reds and bronze.  And to give my tree personality, he is wearing a whimsical top hat.

A view of our dining room.

And this cutie i Max.  He is two years old and more loved than he will ever know.

He loves to pose for photos and he wishes you all a wonderful holiday season.

Thanks so much for visiting.  May you all have a blessed and merry Christmas.

Janet

  1. Thank you for the welcoming (and much needed! LOL) glass of champagne. What a beautiful vignette with the red truck, vintage linen, and bear--oh, that sweet face. The staircase garland is so elegant, and I love your idea of hanging stockings. I am swooning over your flocked tree, and the Santa hat is so merry and pretty! Love the red truck ornament! Your living room is stunningly gorgeous. I love your mix of rustic and French. I still have French pieces in storage, and I'm slowly trying to figure out how to incorporate them with the Prim pieces. You've got a splendid mix. Mas is so cute!! I'm thrilled to play with you this week on the tour. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

  4. Love, Love Love...so many beautiful pics to enjoy! From the champagne you served to the way you go from adding little red trucks to pretty pink shoes into your Christmas decor, it's all fantastic! I enjoy seeing houses that have a variety of decor styles from room to room and was captivated by yours. I think my fave though is the way you styled that vintage crate with the teddy and truck along with the Let it Snow sign and the white lantern. That vignette made me feel all "Christmas-y" inside! Thanks so much for inviting us into your home. Happy Holidays!

  9. Janet, you are so gifted in your talent of mixing [drinks], decor, and styles. I love tradition, romance, and whimsy, and you do it all. I am particularly fond of the stairway garland. I've had mine for several years, and though I still like it, I want to love it. Yours has so many nice flourishes, including the cones, birdhouses, and lights.
Your little Max looks so handsome in his Christmas sweater. I bet he was tired after all that decorating was finished (two beautiful trees - wow!), but happy to get cozy with you in the joy- and light-filled evenings to come. I hope Santa is good to you all!
Cheers to a beautiful season and all its traditions!

9 Steps for Hosting The Ultimate Spring Birthday Tea Party

Hi friends - I've missed you all.  Things are rapidly changing for us all.  Many of us are working from home these days, stopped gathering with family and weekend outings are basically trips to the supermarket to restock.  It's the least that we can do to help stop the spreading of this horrific virus that is changing the world as we know it.  That being said, I am so glad that I got to spend time with family and friends two weeks ago when we all came together for the celebration of my Goddaughter Daniella's birthday.  We had a blast and the memories made are ones that will live in my heart forever.     My sincerest thank you to everyone that helped me put this beautiful event together.  Especially my cousin, Jennifer of Having Fun Craft s, for making all the gorgeous place cards and backdrops.  They were a beautiful addition to the overall decor.  A big thank you and hug to my niece Ericka for flying in from Florida to help me put it all together and to the amazi

Wood Box Rustic Floral Arrangement Tutorial

So what do you do with an old wooden bit box found at a flea market???  Well, the answer is very simple for those of us that love all things vintage and worn...  We display flowers of course.   And luckily, I scored big on my trip to my local grocery store yesterday. Our flower vendor had the most spectacular roses in stock.  I couldn't believe how gorgeous they were.  Two tone roses in the most delicate soft shades of pink and fuchsia.  I knew these roses were meant for me!!!  I grab two bunches and practically ran home to snap a few shots of them and arrange them to showcase their timeless beauty. So today, I am sharing a tutorial on how I made this rustic centerpiece...  The best part of this tutorial, is that there are no fancy materials needed.  The only items required are the flowers, a few glass tumblers, water and floral shears or scissors.  And in less than 10 minutes, you will have a spectacular centerpiece that will rival any one that you may purchase at a Floris

A Country Christmas Tablescape

Until this Christmas, I had no idea that I was going to be having a little obsession with vintage trucks. Specifically, red pickup trucks.  Me, the girl that loves to decorate with delicate flowers and romantic fabrics.  Hard to believe but it is true!!!  And decorating with vintage cars is seems to be having a moment..  They are everywhere!! So today, I am happy to share one of my most pinned and shared tablescapes.  It is my Country/Farm house themed Christmas table which showcases my latest find. You guess it!  A red pickup truck.  It was just too adorable to pass up.  I didn't know what use it would have in my decor when I first brought it home but it quickly became the inspiration for all of our Christmas decorating the last two holiday seasons. Such a fun piece to own with a great vintage vibe too.   My whimsical table begins with a distressed wood charger in antique white, topped with simple white plates and Pier 1 Imports Glad Tidings Porcelain Salad plates.  I al
