Brunch ~ Easy Entertaining
Hello everyone. Things have certainly picked up around here. It seems like we are full speed in the entertaining department. We have been non-stop since May. Although I am completely exhausted, it's been wonderful to have our family visit from New York and Florida. Especially my parents. It is always such a sweet treat to spend time with Mom & Dad. Mom has been through so much since her battle with breast cancer so I treasure every moment that I get to be in her company.
One of my favorite ways to entertain is by having brunch. It is simple and carefree. Besides, I consider brunch so much fun. That wonderful combination of breakfast and lunch allows for a leisurely and relaxed pace. So last weekend when my niece Adriana stay for the weekend, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to have a Sunday brunch.
I usually set the table a few days before which lets me concentrate on meal planning and prep. I also like to set the buffet areas the night before which helps me keep organized. I pull like to out all my serving dishes, pitchers, coffee cups, kettles, baskets and place them on the serving tables so I don't forget anything. I usually keep things simple with family but since My niece Adriana was bringing her in-laws from Washington to stay with us for the weekend too, I wanted to make it extra special.
I began by using a crisp white linen tablecloth on the table as my base and began layering by adding powdery blue plate chargers and floral Royal Doulton dinner plates that I found on a recent trip to Newport Rhode Island. Baby blue napkin, gold flatware and Mikasa stemware complete this elegant setting. I made my own center piece by using a rustic planter and flowers that I purchased from my local supermarket. To make it even more special, I placed a very pretty favor box on each place setting which had a little sweet surprise tucked inside.
Simple touches such as silver trays, glass and linens layered in bread baskets make all the difference.

The beauty of brunch is that it is a relaxed and leisurely meal. One that allows for simple and quick entertaining. Best of all, it allows you enjoy more time with your guests. In the end, anything that brings family and friends together is always a good thing in my book.
Thank you for visiting me today. Wishing you a great week ahead.
