Luscious Lemon Pound Cake Recipe

Hello friends.  I hope you all had a lovely Easter.   We finally finished with the repairs of the plaster ceiling in our living room.  What a job that was.... Cleaning all the fine dust after all the sanding was a huge task. Everything had to be dusted.  And I mean everything on the first floor.  But I am so glad that it is finally done.  It truly looks amazing. Such a big difference.  Now it is on to giving the living room a little makeover.  I am so excited about it to.   And the repairs all took place Easter week.  So much to do before the holiday.  I was totally exhausted the Saturday before Easter but I somehow managed to cook for the family on Easter Sunday.  I don't know where I got the last bit of energy to pull it off but I did. I also want to take a minute to apologize for been a bit absent from the blog and from visiting you all but I have so many things going on in our home right now.  I also have family visiting from other parts of the country so my time h

Moss and Faux Flower Egg Tutorial

I have been working on decorating our home for the upcoming Easter holiday.  We are expecting family from Florida, California and Puerto Rico this spring so I have been putting my efforts into early spring cleaning and organizing.  There is also the living room ceiling repairs that need to be completed before the family arrives.  Our ceiling is plaster and that is one messy job to complete.  But I am happy that it is finally getting done since I have been wanting to do a makeover in our living room for a while now and could not until the ceiling was repaired. As we all now, decorating for each season can be expensive so I am always looking for easy and inexpensive ways to make my own seasonal designs to decorate our home.  Being handy with a glue gun surely offers a solution and plenty of possibilities if you are a bit creative.  One of the crafts projects that I came up with this year are these sweet and darling foam eggs covered with moss and faux spring flowers.  Easy to do

Easter Table Setting Inspiration

Hello to you all and happy Sunday.  I hope you all had a great weekend.  March is such a wonderful month isn't? It brings the first day of spring, family gatherings, pretty flowers and the promise of warmer days.  And with Easter just a few weeks away, it is a good time to start planning our menus, getting our homes ready for guests, and decorating for the holiday. And if you are hosting Easter dinner this year too, I am happy to share a little inspiration for your table this year.  And there are a ton of different ways to style a table for Easter but after the grey days of winter, I think we all crave a bit of color - think vibrant colors and spring accents.   Since Easter marks the beginning of beautiful weather and pretty blooms, I created a table celebrating nature.  Natural textures, cheery colors and cute furry bunnies add unexpected whimsy to table I love these adorable bunny accent plates from Pier 1 Imports and linen napkins from Terrain.  They add a

Favorite Spaces ~ My Reading Room

Hello friends.  The weekend is finally here and so are the routine household tasks the put put off during the week.  And may I say, we had snow again this morning.  Oh I am so ready for spring.  In fact, I spent most of the morning digging up my Easter decorations from the basement and making a few crafts.  Come Saturday mornings however, the first thing that I love to do before any housework gets done, is to sit in my favorite room of the house to enjoy a nice cup of hot coffee (because I do need my caffeine in the mornings) reading my favorite magazines. I call this my reading room.  It is a lovely bright room full of natural light due to the eight windows that wrap around the entire room.  My favorite feature are the french doors that give me privacy in an instant.   When we first purchased the home, this room was decorated in dark tones.  I have since brighten the space by painting the room in a much lighter color.  The decor has also been toned down and soften. In fact, I
