The Gardens At Nemours Mansion

Hi everyone...  I hope you are all had the chance to enjoy this amazing weekend.  The weather was absolutely perfect.  Warm, sunny and bright.  A perfect summer weekend although it is now fall but I am not going to complain about it.  And it seemed as if everyone was out trying to catch those last warm sunny days around here. Yesterday, we visited the spectacular Nemours Mansion and Gardens in Wilmington, Delaware. Former home of Alfred and Alicia DuPont.   The mansion design of the mansion is in the late-18th- century style and was built by Carrere and Hastings, a prestigious New York architectural firm.  It is truly a work of art.  A labor of love and a true homage to Mr. DuPont's French roots. The estate has the most developed and largest French Formal Gardens in North America.   The design was patterned after the gardens of Versailles surrounding the Petit Trianon at the Chateau de Versailles.  The grounds are beautifully landscaped with plantings, fountains, pools, a

Fall Inspired Tablescape

Happy fall everyone.  As crisp and cool autumnal breezes make their entry, it is nature's vivid color palette that inspires me.  New wreaths hand on the doors, mums are perfectly placed on our front steps and new welcome mats decorate all entrance doors.  Hubby replanting all window boxes and planters with flowers in bright yellows, oranges and purples....  Color has certainly arrived at our home. Hello everyone.  I hope your weekend is going well.  I just can't believe it is the middle of September already.  I am still working on my fall decor and a few small projects around the house.  I am into organizing all of my closets right now.  So it is one room at a time.  The basement will be my largest one to take on so that one I will be leave for last.  It is all part of simplifying life. Today I wanted to share this beautiful book by Carolyn Westbrook, The French Inspired Home . It is full of so many romantic and inspiring images.  Delicate fabrics, worn furniture, lighting, patina and vintage accessories are just a few of the elements that will keep you engaged and captivated with each turn of a page.  I knew I would fall in love with this book the minute I saw the cover. Painted furniture, crystal chandeliers and pearls draping on a concrete angel are some of the little unique details that make this book a favorite...   It is is a mix of glamour, elegance and romance.
