Spring Tablescape Blog Hop ~ Ladies Lunch

Hello everyone.  For those of you visiting Rosemary & Thyme for the first time, WELCOME!

Spring is officially here!!!  Time to say goodbye to winter and so long to snow. It is time to welcome spring.  To watch all the the bright and cheerful flowers make their appearance.  And what better way to celebrate Spring than by gathering good friends around a table inspired by the colors of the season.

With that in mind, I am happy to be joining a group of twenty-five other bloggers for a Spring Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by the sweet Chloe of Celebrate & Decorate to bring you a week full of beautiful spring table ideas. Whether you are hosting an Easter brunch or a laid-back springtime garden party, I guarantee you that by the end of this blog hop, you will be inspired to create your own little master piece.  So grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit back and enjoy the blog hop which ends today....

I love setting a pretty table.  It is my passion!!! Many things inspire me to create a pretty table for friends and family to enjoy.  A simple flower bouquet found at my local market, an eye catching fabric or pretty vintage plates found at a thrift shop.  Most of all, I am inspired by the people that will gather around my table.  And so for this seasonal table, I was inspired by the lovely ladies in my life.

Keeping in mind all of their bright and cheery personalities, I created a table using colors their favorite colors.  Ones that I know make them feel happy and sunny.

I started by layering my table linens.  I used a basic white table cloth and placed a shorter bright yellow cloth on top of it to add color to my table.  For spring, I don't think you can get a brighter or fresher look than adding yellow to a table.  But actually, any pastels would be just as lovely.

Next, I turned to the place settings, I began with my all time favorite white dinner plate which is by Lenox in the Federal Gold Pattern.  I then added another favorite pattern to my place setting...  Floral salad plates and tea cups from Mikasa in the Touch of Spring pattern.  This is such a delicate pattern and one that I find to be perfect for any spring/summer gathering.

I finished each place setting with simple gold flatware and a green and white gingham napkin.

I didn't use a plate charger because I didn't want to cover the yellow of the tablecloth.

Crystal and light purple stemware pick up the colors of the china.   Isn't this tea cup Lovely?

I added a place card and mini vanilla cup cake to each table setting.  I also placed the pretty lilac flowers on the cupcakes.  It think it ties everything together and makes  each place setting extra special.

On the center of the table, I placed two ceramic bunnies and filled them with pastel jelly beans.

I had to get creative with my centerpiece for this one.  I was not happy with the flowers I originally purchased for this table.  I found them to be too dark after I bought them so I used a faux floral arrangement and added a few natural tulips for effect.  One has to be resourceful at times....

I even made pastel colored jelly bean bark and a blueberry cheese cake......

I hope you enjoyed your visit here today.   It was my pleasure sharing my spring inspired table with you.  Please head over to visit the other wonderful ladies sharing their pretty spring tablescapes today.

Have a Glorious Spring!!!

Fondly,

Janet

  4. Janet, Your flowers are gorgeous and your container is so elegant. I've never tried mixing fresh with faux and you have inspired me to give it a try. I had a bad experience once with tulips ordered from a florist for a special occasion! They grew longer overnight I kid you not! I was exasperated!
You have represented spring beautifully and your friends will feel so special at this delightful table. The napkins and napkin rings compliment your delicate china and crystal and the gold cutlery adds the crowning touch!
Fun blog hopping this week with you.

They are so well made today that sometimes it is hard to tell them apart. It was a pleasure joining you on this blog hop too.

  5. Janet, it's those little things added to the classics that always appeal to me. Your china and flatware elevate each and every table you use them on, and a simple layering of the yellow over white cloth is exactly the kind of thing that highlights, in this case, the spring season. And who doesn't love a good, homemade dessert? That jelly bean bark immediately caught my eye, but cheesecake of any kind is my all-time choice when on a dessert buffet. It's the cream to my cup of coffee (and yes, that cup/saucer is beautiful!). Gorgeous flower arrangement, especially in what appears to be a pink depression compote. You are consistently classy is your presentations! Happy Spring!
