Roses ~ The Ultimate Romantic Flower

Hello friends.  I hope your week is off to a good start.  Mine has been busier than usual.  Car trouble, loads of extra work at the office and getting ready for family and friends visiting from out of town this weekend.  With all that in the back of my mind, I look to my precious garden for calm and tranquility.

Truth is, I am crushing over my garden right now and I just can't help it.  Something really magical and wonderful is happening in this tiny piece on heaven these days.  A bit of a celebration...Roses and peonies are blooming voluptuously in my little garden and I am totally enchanted by their magnificent beauty and old-world romance.

The sounds of buzzing bees and happy birds accompany this spectacular show...

It is a blessing to have and endless supply of roses and peonies.   Floral arrangements in our home have been a little more opulent and romantic these days, even if it's only for a few short weeks of the year.

Graceful old-fashion roses adorn a simple basket.

June is when our pretty garden begins to shine.  It is when the abundance of spring flowers is unlimited.  But roses are the star of the show for sure.  They make a statement all on their own.

I hope you enjoyed my pretty roses.  They certainly bring a smile to my face each morning.

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment.  Each one inspires me and makes me very happy.

Fondly,

Janet

Tour of My Rose Garden

Here is a little tour of the roses in my garden.  Each year we add one plant to the garden.  Lately, we have been adding more of the David Austin roses because I love the softness and delicate beauty they add to the garden.  And I also love their fullness and endless petals.

  8. Gorgeous Janet! Yes, all those roses and peonies look so opulent and lush and romantic. Sigh . . . what a wonderful garden you have, and all that loveliness to enjoy. Roses from the florists have nothing on these garden beauties!

  9. Oh Janet, how I love your blog posts and your exquisite photos. Each and every one makes me wish I couls visit the beauty and serenity of your garden. Re the flowers in the basket, are they all roses? The raspberry one reminds me of a beautiful peony I once had. My Mom detested peonies because of the ants but they remain one of my flowers. When I was still married and living in Bucks Co, PA, I bought about $100 worth of roses from Jackson-Perkins and lovingly planted them in the small bit of sunny garden in our mostly shady yard. It seemed they failed more every day. After about a month of their not thriving, I dug them up and gave them to a neighbor who seemed to have more shade than we did. My roses loved her yard and just thrived. So instead of enjoying them in my yard, I had only to look across the street to see them thriving. Now I enjoy the flowers I most love through your beautiful photos. Have you ever heard of Derek Fell? He is a horticultural photographer who has written exquisite books about various locations in PA. He used to have property by Stover State Park, and I visited it on a Bucks County tour many years ago. He had recreated some of the Impressionist paintings on his property - my favorite being Monet's Japanese bridge. Exquisite. He has moved to Florida but you can still find his books. I am sure you would enjoy them. Thank you again for sharing the beauty of your yard with us and your exquisite photos. I enjoy them even more now that I live in an apartment.

  10. Love!! We have a ton of David Austin Roses... I love how they resemble peonies. They also have a wonderful scent. Your garden is beautiful... thanks for the tour! Our roses are moving on to their second bloom already... my peonies are done. I think they bloomed in a day and I missed it.

  19. Janet, I'm thrilled you've chosen this post to share at Five Star Frou-Frou this week. I adore roses, and know I've commented previously here, but I had to comment again. Just stunning. I've just pruned my very recently planted rosebushes here (mid Winter in Australia) and am hoping for a second year flush of blooms come September. Even then, they won't rival yours! Love, Mimi xxx
