Favorite Spaces ~ My Reading Room

Hello friends.  The weekend is finally here and so are the routine household tasks the put put off during the week.  And may I say, we had snow again this morning.  Oh I am so ready for spring.  In fact, I spent most of the morning digging up my Easter decorations from the basement and making a few crafts.  Come Saturday mornings however, the first thing that I love to do before any housework gets done, is to sit in my favorite room of the house to enjoy a nice cup of hot coffee (because I do need my caffeine in the mornings) reading my favorite magazines.

I call this my reading room.  It is a lovely bright room full of natural light due to the eight windows that wrap around the entire room.  My favorite feature are the french doors that give me privacy in an instant.

When we first purchased the home, this room was decorated in dark tones.  I have since brighten the space by painting the room in a much lighter color.  The decor has also been toned down and soften. In fact, I have decorated the room with many of my favorite things.  A comfy big chair and ottoman, painted furniture, floral window treatments, chandelier, antiques, linens, and all of my favorite books.
This room makes me happy.  It is a room that feels good.  A room that feels peaceful and one that I can count on whenever I am in need of a quiet moment.  And if there was any one place that captures my soul, it is this one.  That is all I really need.

I hope you enjoyed the tour... Wishing you a weekend full of smiles, hugs and cherished moments.

Hugs,

Janet

  1. Everyone needs a reading room or even a special chair for reading. I love your pink stool, and the light the room receives. It is very pretty, Janet. I would enjoy curling up with a book there. xoxo

  21. For years, Saturday morning was my time to stay in bed, with the magazines and newspapers I wanted to read. I'd pile them all around me, and a couple of my dogs. Haven't done that in so long and have been thinking about how much I miss it. Thanks for the nudge!
