Light and Pretty

Hello to you all.  I hope you had an amazing weekend.  Well, the sun and the warm weather finally paid us a visit this weekend.  The sky was bright and clear.  What a gorgeous sight.

Having my lovely sister-in-law Lilly and her hubby staying over to go to the Philadelphia Flower Show, meant being the hostess this weekend.   It also meant creating a welcoming space for my guest.   I like to make my family and friends feel as if they stepped into a little cozy and romantic bed and breakfast when they visit.  My family calls my home their Bed & Breakfast.

Silky pillows and fine bed linens are just part of the appeal.  Such items can turn the ordinary into pure luxury. And if that is not reason enough to feel a little pampered, I always love to add a welcoming tray and fresh flowers for my guest.  It is about creating a room that your guest want to nestle in.

Such a bright and serene space.   If you look around you'll feel as though someone has discovered your secret dreams.

A cozy cocoon in a setting of soft colors.

Pretty yellow carnations warm the heart.

I am still working on the makeover for this room.  I will reveal the space once it is all complete.  Right now I am working on the finishing touches.

Be my guest.

How do you like to welcome your guest?  Would you feel welcomed in this space?   The show was great and the Philly cheese steak was even better.  But the time spent with our family was truly priceless.   It was a weekend full of fun, great laughs and more wonderful memories.

I wish you all a wonderful and happy week.  Thank you for visiting sweet friends.  I do appreciate your comments and time.

  1. Gorgeous photos, I love the yellow dishes. Hugs, Marty

    1. Thank you Marty. I do love reading your lovely comments. Looking forwarding to joining your fun party on Tuesday.

  2. Janet is such an artist with her tablescapes. She inspires me to do more of them at home, too. This tablescape was truly special for Art and I. The fragrant minute yellow roses were a perfect final touch in our room. The whole weekend was fun and priceless. Thank you, Janet!

  3. I truly love the soft yellow and white - would you mind sharing the pattern name of the little yellow dessert plates? Such a welcoming and cozy room - can't wait to see it all!

    1. Hello Janet. How wonderful to meet you. Sorry for the delayed response but I have been very busy this month planning a few baby showers. Things are finally getting a bit normal this week. Thank you for visiting and leaving me your sweet comment. The yellow plates do not have a pattern name but they are made by Grace Teaware and I purchased them in Home Goods a few months ago. Please come back to visit soon.

  4. Such a beautiful sunny room with your pretty yellow flowers. It seems like you have taken care of all the details to make your guests feel welcome.
Of course when I have guests coming I wash all the blanket and put fresh linens on the bed. Lotion and a small water pitcher with glasses on the end table. I also lay out some towels on the bed and let them know that all the towels in the bathroom a fresh and for them. I also put fresh flowers in the bathroom. I also put some candy in a dish for them.
Can hardly wait to see your guest room finished.
Have a wonderful week and hopefully your warm weather is on the way. We had 87 degrees today.
Never had winter and very little rain.

    1. Wow Mary. You truly are very thoughtful. I am sure your guests feel very loved and welcomed in your home also. I too like to put a little candy dish in the room. It is such a special touch. I am looking forward to warmer days but it appears that winter wants to stay. Thank you for visiting and leaving me your sweet comment.

  5. I just love the yellow. I wished I had more in my house. As far as guests are concerned I have not had grownups for along time, just grandbabies.

  6. Im loving the Yellow... Im crocheting a white and yellow rose doilie at the moment.. Love those dishes.. with love Janice

    1. Thank you Jeanette. I do appreciate your sweet comment.

  8. Of course I'd love to be your guest, be certain Janet !!
To be honest carnations aren't among my favourite flowers, but I'd never seen pale yellow carnations before, they seem almost roses, are more than lovely, I fell in love with them !
The sweetness and grace that you always share with us are a so delightful way to begin a new day and week, my friend, thank you so much for this all ❤

  9. Beautiful flowers! Love those plates.

  10. My husband says we run a Bed and Breakfast here too! I love to make my guests feel welcome with special touches. Your yellow and white is so warm and inviting. Lovely.

  11. Oh, this is such a pretty setting. Love your yellow flowers and dishes. The white pitcher is so pretty too. Popping over from Amaze Me Monday.
    Be a sweetie,

  12. This looks so lovely. I love the yellow carnations with the pretty yellow dishes. I too love to pamper my guests.

  13. Hi Sandi, what a lovely lovely space. Your guests must feel special everytime they come and visit you. Yellow carnation speaks to me, or any type of flowers. Yours are perfect and suited with white linens.
Hope you have a wonderful week.

  14. I would definitely feel welcome here. Settling down for the evening in this cozy room with a good book, after a day of good fellowship with loved ones, perfect bliss !

  15. Such pretty colors, so spring like. I'm sure your guests love staying with you and going to the flower show how fun!

  16. What a lovely and cozy room! I love your touches of sunny yellow and crisp white. I'm sure your company enjoyed themselves very much and it is lovely to be pampered! What fun to go to a flower show together! Thank you for sharing and joining me for tea, Janet.

  17. The yellow carnations are so sweet and so are your photos and space!

    Linking from Mod Mix Monday,
    Ricki Jill

  18. Oh how beautiful. I enjoyed finding your blog and visiting. I came from Katherine's Thursday link party. Thanks for sharing that great list of linkies! I am following you so I can come and visit again.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful post.

  19. Adore your yellow and whites! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  20. Stopping by from Katherine's Corner. There is just something so inherently welcoming and refreshing in blue and yellow. I can imagine how pampered your guests must feel. When I visited my daughter in Austin recently she surprised me with my favorite wine and a nice dark chocolate bar left on my pillow (the chocolate, not the wine). Cheers! Sue

  21. I'm crazy about yellow and I'm loving those flowers in that awesome pitcher! What a special space!

    1. Thank you Nancy. I love yellow flowers too. In fact, I love all flowers. They truly brighten any day. I do appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to leave such kind words.
