Serene Escape

Happy Sunday friends.  I hope you all had a lovely and restful weekend.  It's been raining non-stop here in the Northeast.  Hot and very humid.  Thank goodness for air conditioners.

I have been keeping busy around the house.  I have been working on our master bedroom.  Giving it a bit of a romantic makeover using soft light colors, pretty flowers, vintage silver and crystal to create a relaxed and welcoming setting.  It is about picking out pieces that speak to ones heart to design the perfect retreat.

Not one to waste an opportunity to take a few pretty shots, I gathered a couple of the pieces that inspired my bedroom makeover.  Floral fabric, vintage tea cups, cherub candle holder, fresh flowers, hot tea and a raspberry and lemon cake made the perfect setting to take a break from the house work on this rainy afternoon.  What a peaceful and serene escape to enjoy a few pages of Carolyn Aiken's book.  This book is such a treasure chest for inspiration.  The images are simply stunning.

Well friends, I hope you all have a wonderful and creative week.  Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to leave me your sweet and kind words.  They mean a great deal to me.

Hugs,

Janet

  6. Janet,
You and I are on a similar wavelength. I have been making plans and purchases that are going to be used in our master bedroom, trying to get organized and make it a more romantic and fluffy room....LOL! I adore your cherub candlestick! and your colors are even similar to mine! A bit different, but similar. I have a peachy pink and a sage green and a tan and a golden brown and a medium blue upholstry fabric, it is the fabric on my Cedar chest that is in the header picture on my blog! The rest of the room is cream and cream and cream....lace, and brocade curtains and bedspread. the walls are the color of pearls...and I have gold accents around. I have always loved gold. Our carpet right now is a peachy brown, and hopefully will be changed to a beautiful cream multi-level carpet I found with a brocade pattern in it. These things I have had in our room since we built the house 18 years ago, but I love them and will be changing things around and adding a new armoire I need to paint and adding a mantel around our fireplace and some things like that. I may make a cover for the bedspread quilt with lace and doilies. I can't wait to see your redone bedroom...I need inspiration to get going on it! I have been working in the master bath and that I am happy about! More work to go though! And I have so much going and I have a hard time staying focused.
good luck to you, can't wait to see your room!
    Hearts,
    Betsy

  9. Awww! That's so soft, romantic and pretty! I love the white roses and pink flowers together in the silver pitcher.I love the reflection of the teacups in the pitcher. Sorry about the rain and heat! That's got to be frustrating. I saw that the rains are really heavy on the news. We're on an energy alert here. No unneeded power/electricity between 12-6 pm. Hope the rain stops and the sun comes out!
