A Visit To Skytop in PA

My husband, niece and I took a mini vacation and went to Pocono Lake, Pennsylvania last week for a couple of days.  This was our first time in the area so we were pretty excited to visit and explore.  We got the chance to tour a few little quaint towns such as Cresco and Skytop.  Both full of charming victorian and colonial homes, old style general stores and antique shops.  But the discovery of the trip was an amazing old world lodge perched high on a mountain in Skytop, PA.  This old grand hotel has the most breathtaking views of the mountains and lake....  Leave it to me to find this historic gem.  We took plenty of photographs both in Cresco and Skytop to share with my blogger friends.  Enjoy..

Pretty in Pink

Inspiration can come from just about anything.  Today, it was this very sweet and delicate cup and saucer from Nikko that inspired me.  It has been part of my collection for some time and it also happens to be one of my favorite pieces.

The pink roses came from another arrangement that was reaching its final days.  I took the better looking ones to put this little vignette together...They actually match the pink rose on the cup and saucer.  How perfect!  I then placed a couple of floral pillows on a vintage chair, added a few linens and a simple dinner plate.  Take a look at the results.

Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful week.

Breakfast in The Garden

I have drawers full of pieces of vintage linens that I've collected through the years and they come into their own when family or friends come to visit.  On this beautiful and sunny summer morning however, linens, vintage china and silver pieces came together for this lovely breakfast in the garden.  The perfect start to a relaxing and pleasant summer's day for my husband and I.
This was my interpretation of a breakfast in the garden.  What could be more romantic...

Antiquing

Vintage China

Yes, we love those vintage pieces that have a story to tell.  That exquisitely beautiful vintage china which evokes all the charm of a bygone era.  Here are a few examples of pieces that I have recently found.

I came across this vintage set at an antiques shop in Haddonfield, NJ.  The pieces do not show a pattern name but some of the dishes are stamped with a seal that reads Austria.  It really does not matter to me.  I just fell in love with these plates and thought it was a great purchase.  They are so dainty and beautiful.  I can't wait to use them in own of my romantic tablescapes.

Antique Garden Pieces

These vintage pieces are just lovely and full of possibilities.  They are full of beautiful details and quiet elegance.  Adding similar pieces to a garden provides warmth and soul.

Flea Market - Antique Shop Finds

A little bistro set I found at my local antiques shop.  This is the perfect addition to my backyard.  I had a small empty space on one of the corners of my garden and this set fit right in.  A few pretty linens, my recently purchased vintage china and we are ready for afternoon tea in the garden.

This was a little gem I found near the Pocono Area last weekend. It is an old fashion shop offering everything from architectural pieces, wrought iron fences, china, glass, art and much more. I found some great items here such as this silverplate ice bucket below. The best part was meeting and chatting with Marge, one of the shop owners. She was so helpful and sweet. She even posed for a picture for my blog.
